International sports competitors get a taste of Australian lifestyle

The Cottesloe Beach Hotel was the location of a unique multicultural social gathering on Monday night, when a number of international students came together to mingle, socialize and enjoy some traditional Aussie fish & chips.

Hosting the function was the Indian Rim Asian University Games organising team, an initiative of the five WA Universities. The overseas visitors traveled to Perth to compete at the Games which are held from December 3rd to December 7th mainly at the UWA Sports Park which has a proven ability in hosting large scale sporting events.

Whilst competition is important and everyone wants to take home a gold medal, equally important is the opportunity to share cultures and experiences with fellow students. The international guests were visibly loving their social night out, indulging in the beach atmosphere and “foreign” food which was specially prepared by Amberjacks, a boutique fish and shop located on the main strip in Cottesloe.

Amberjacks, which is owned by Tim Wood and wife Vidette, is renowned for best quality local fish and has quite a fan club among seafood lovers, an absolute must when it comes to authentic fish & chips.

For the overseas sports competitors it was a night which gave them a taste of the Australian lifestyle, an experience marked by culture and friendship that adds precious value to the sports side of the Games.
